Cracker Barrel Apologizes, Removes ‘Offensive’ Decoration

A customer at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Connecticut raised concerns about decorations resembling “nooses on the ceiling.” Cracker Barrel apologized and clarified that the “noose” was actually a wrapped cord attached to decor items. They admitted it was “completely unacceptable” that employees didn’t notice the resemblance. Activist Alfonso Robinson shared pictures of the decorations on Twitter, prompting a response from Cracker Barrel, who explained it was an antique soldering iron cord.

The item has been removed, and activists met with restaurant manager Mark Smith, describing the conversation as “positive” and “constructive.” Smith acknowledged that the cord had been displayed for 22 years without notice and invited activists to inspect the restaurant. Some on Twitter called for a review of all Cracker Barrel decorations. In response, Cracker Barrel emphasized its commitment to inclusivity and expressed gratitude for the guest who raised the issue.
