Choosing bridesmaids and groomsmen for a wedding can be tough, but Alexandra Stamps, a fifth-grade teacher in Wichita, Kansas, found a unique solution. She asked her students to fill these roles for her and her husband, Mason McDowell. Mason, a third-grade teacher, shared the sentiment, wanting their students involved in their special day.
Alexandra shared the heartwarming moment on TikTok, where it garnered 19 million views. She asked her students in her classroom, “Will you guys be my junior bridesmaids and groomsmen?” The excited kids happily agreed, some even shedding tears of joy.
Alexandra explained, “We both really love our students so much, and I thought it would be kind of fun to include them in the festivities instead of just having them in the audience.” She wanted to give them a special part in her life to honor their hard work, resilience during the pandemic, and personal growth throughout the school year.
Alexandra also sought approval from the students’ parents and gifted the girls faux pearl necklaces and the boys colorful sunglasses. She made the proposal even sweeter with rainbow-striped lollipops.
This heartwarming gesture celebrated the students and their teachers’ special bond, making their wedding an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
