A Star of “Friends,” Passed Away Aged 85

Renowned English actor and dramatist Paxton Whitehead, known for his versatile 70-year career, has passed away at 85. While not as instantly recognizable as some Hollywood stars, he made an indelible mark on entertainment.

Whitehead joined the esteemed cast of “Friends,” an iconic American sitcom from 1994 to 2004. He portrayed Rachel Bloomingdale’s supervisor, making a lasting impression.

Beyond “Friends,” Whitehead’s career included notable Broadway roles in “My Fair Lady” and “Camelot,” earning a Tony Award nomination. He ventured into television, appearing in various series, including “Murder, She Wrote,” “3rd Rock from the Sun,” and “Law & Order.”

Whitehead’s son, Charles, confirmed his passing on June 16 in Arlington, Virginia. Colleagues and friends paid heartfelt tributes. Actor Jim Piddock described him as “a fantastic performer, a wise mentor, and a cherished individual.”

Paxton Whitehead’s legacy in entertainment will be celebrated by those who worked with him and his countless fans.
