Conjoined twin sisters who were famously ‘cut In half’ in 2006 are now living as separate teenagers

Kendra and Maliyah Herrin came into the world on February 26, 2002, as a remarkable set of Ischiopagus/Omphalopagus conjoined twins, born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their unique condition meant they shared not only a special bond as sisters but also a large intestine, bladder, liver, and a single kidney. Most astonishingly, they had just one pair of legs, being connected at the abdomen and pelvis.

For their parents, Erin and Jake, this moment was one of both joy and profound challenge. The medical reality they faced was daunting; the twins lacked the organs essential for independent survival. The doctors’ words were clear – Kendra and Maliyah couldn’t live separately, and the prospect of separation surgery was incredibly risky.

Erin and Jake embarked on a remarkable journey filled with courage and love. They would do whatever it took to ensure their daughters’ well-being and the unique bond that connected them.
