Mama’s Cornbread Dressing!

One Thanksgiving favorite is Mama’s Cornbread Dressing. A crowd-pleaser, it’s a blend of cornbread, spices, and turkey broth. Here’s a simple guide to make it.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Chopped Onions
  • 2 cups Chopped Celery
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 4 cups Toasted Bread Crumbs
  • 4 cups Cornbread Crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Sage
  • 2 teaspoons Poultry Seasoning
  • Turkey Broth (as needed)
  • 4 large Eggs (beaten)

Instructions:

  1. Saute the Onions and Celery: Melt butter in a skillet, add onions and celery. Saute until tender and aromatic.
  2. Prepare the Bread Mixture: Combine toasted bread and cornbread crumbs in a large bowl.
  3. Season to Perfection: Add sauteed onions and celery to the bread mixture. Sprinkle in salt, pepper, sage, and poultry seasoning. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Adjust Moisture: Add turkey giblet broth with a bulb baster for moisture. Stir in beaten eggs to bind the ingredients.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 400°F. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes until browned.
