To keep their aging dog company, the family takes turns sleeping on the couch.

Spike, a 14-year-old English springer spaniel, has faced mobility challenges due to a recent stroke, making it difficult for him to climb stairs to reach his family’s bed, where he’s snuggled since he was a puppy. In response, his family devised a heartwarming solution. Unable to join them upstairs, they started sleeping downstairs with Spike on a rotating basis.

Spike’s owner, Catherine Morris, was surprised by her parents’ new sleeping arrangement, as they’ve always had a close bond with Spike. They’ve become inseparable, and her father affectionately calls him “old bean.” They ensure Spike gets his meals, medicines, and companionship, demonstrating their commitment to making his remaining years as comfortable and memorable as possible.

Catherine Morris summed it up, saying, “We love our old boy so much and are so glad to have him in our lives. Hopefully, we have made up for his not-so-good start in life by providing all the love in the world.” This heartwarming story showcases the extraordinary lengths people will go to make their elderly dogs happy and cherished.
