In Philadelphia, a FedEx driver was robbed at gunpoint while making a delivery. The driver was shot, but because he had a concealed carry permit, he was able to return fire and kill the robber. The 32-year-old motorist was shot and killed on Unruh Avenue, where he had earlier lost his wallet and car keys. He was hurt, but doctors say he’ll make a full recovery.
The driver’s claim of self-defense is being looked at by the authorities. They’re also investigating into a possible getaway driver for the robber. A grand jury will review the material and decide whether or not criminal charges are warranted. The motorist was in possession of a 9mm weapon and a valid concealed-carry license.
“Based on the basic information that was provided, it appears to be self-defense: he was shot first. He responded with gunfire,” said Interim Police Chief Christine Coulter.
There is a link between this and other incidents in the vicinity, therefore it wasn’t random. This shows that even delivery workers must prioritize their own safety in potentially dangerous situations.
