Born without a nose, here’s what Tessa Evans looks like at 10 — says she loves her new nose

Tessa Evans, born on Valentine’s Day in 2013, is a rare case as she was born without a nose, having Bosma arhinia microphthalmia syndrome (BAMS).

Her condition, with fewer than 100 cases worldwide, didn’t stop her from living a full life. Her parents made the decision to have a cosmetic nasal implant when she was just two, aiming to avoid more invasive surgeries in the future. Tessa spent her early weeks in intensive care and had surgery to create a second airway for normal breathing and eating. Her dad shared,

“It was funny the very first time she sneezed, but we actually found out that it actually comes from your chest.” Her mother described the emotional struggle during Tessa’s recovery after the procedure. The surgery will continue until her teenage years, with a medical tattoo artist adding the finishing touches for a more natural appearance.
