Aunt Bee From “The Andy Griffith Show” Left $100,000 In A Trust Fund For Law Enforcement.

Frances Bavier, known as Aunt Bee in The Andy Griffith Show, passed away in 1989 at 86, leaving $100,000 for local law enforcement. Despite her warm TV persona, Bavier was a private and demanding person. A local resident, Floyd Bowers, revealed, “She wasn’t the woman you saw on TV. She liked her privacy, and she was hard to please.”

The local North Carolina police will retain the $100,000 trust fund principal, distributing annual interest as Christmas bonuses. Bavier’s will also directed parts of her estate to the Actor’s Fund of America, residents of Connecticut and New York, and UNC public television.

Bavier, settling in Chatham County in 1972, engaged in charity work for Christmas and Easterseals. Despite later seclusion, she maintained her charitable spirit. Before fading from the public eye, she actively participated in community events, showcasing her caring nature in holiday parades and sending well wishes to college-bound kids’ mothers.
