Tom Selleck admits to “messed up” health issues after over 50 years of doing his own film stunts

Hollywood, a dreamland for many, witnesses few enduring success stories. Tom Selleck, a rare exception, boasts a long-lasting career in the entertainment industry. He confesses humble beginnings, recalling less glamorous roles, TV ads, and even game show appearances. “Humiliating and embarrassing. I lost. Twice,” he admits, referencing The Dating Game.

Career Ups and Downs: After a stint with 20th Century Fox’s talent program, Selleck faced setbacks but persevered. Since 2010, he’s been a stalwart on “Blue Bloods,” depicting Frank Reagan, the head of the NYC Police Department. The show recently confirmed its thirteenth season.

Physical Toll of Stardom: Selleck’s commitment to performing his stunts took a toll on his physique. He reveals, “My back’s kind of messed up.” The actor highlights the impact of frequent stunts, attributing it to the “stop-and-go” nature of such scenes.

Beyond Hollywood: To maintain fitness, Selleck tends to his Ventura, California farm, displaying a passion for horses shared with his daughter. His enduring marriage to Jillie Mack, prioritizing family, remains a Hollywood rarity. Selleck emphasizes, “I quit Magnum to have a family.”

Balancing Act: Selleck reflects on maintaining balance, stating, “It took a long time to get off the train.” The couple found solace on their ranch, providing an ideal environment for their daughter, Hannah.

In 2012, Selleck’s wife concluded, “We both thought it was the best environment for Hannah to grow up.” Best wishes to Tom Selleck in his multifaceted journey.
