Stuffed Cabbage Rolls: A Simple Comfort Classic
Ingredients:
- Tomato Sauce: 2 tbsp butter, 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, 1 tsp minced garlic, 28 oz crushed tomatoes, 15 oz tomato sauce, salt, pepper, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp red wine vinegar.
- Cabbage Rolls: 1 lb ground beef, 1 cup cooked rice, 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, 1 egg, 1 head cabbage.
Tomato Sauce: Melt butter, sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir in brown sugar and red wine vinegar. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Cabbage Rolls: Boil cabbage, peel 12 leaves. In a bowl, mix beef, rice, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, 2 tbsp parsley, and egg. Add 1/2 cup tomato sauce.
Assembly: Fill cabbage leaves, roll them, and place in a baking dish. Pour remaining tomato sauce over. Bake until perfection is reached.
