Former President Jimmy Carter arrives in wheelchair at late wife Rosalynn’s funeral

In a poignant farewell, 99-year-old former President Jimmy Carter attended the funeral of his wife, Rosalynn, in Atlanta. Adorned in a suit and covered in a blanket, he wheeled in to bid goodbye to his partner of 77 years, despite being in hospice care. President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and former first ladies, including Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, also attended the event at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.

Reflecting on his mother’s final moments, Carter’s son, Chip, revealed that Jimmy expressed love and pride for the “wonderful things she had done” in her life. Rosalynn, a dedicated advocate for mental health, worked tirelessly to diminish the stigma surrounding it. The day before her passing, Jimmy sought a private moment with her, likely spent in prayer in their chamber where their hospice beds faced each other.
