Ingredients:
- 1 kg (2.2 lbs) chicken wings
- 2 tbsp aluminum-free baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
Barbecue Sauce:
- 300 ml (1 ¼ cups) tomato ketchup
- 4 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 5 tbsp dark brown sugar
- 2 tbsp black treacle or molasses
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- ½ tsp mustard powder
- 1 ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions:
- Cut wings, dry, and toss with baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Bake at 120C/250F for 30 mins, then 220C/425F for 40-45 mins until golden.
- Mix barbecue sauce ingredients, heat, and simmer for 5 mins.
- Toss wings with sauce and serve.
Tips:
- Dry wings thoroughly before coating with baking powder.
- Use aluminum-free baking powder to avoid bitterness.
- Extra sauce can be served on the side.
Can I make barbecue wings ahead? You can make wings ahead (without sauce) and refrigerate. Reheat for 5-6 mins at 200C/400F. Barbecue sauce can also be made ahead, refrigerated, and reheated.
