Mechanic Saves a Puppy Stuck in a Backpack in a Dumpster

In Shakopee, Minnesota, a mechanic named R.J. from Midas auto shop became a hero by rescuing a helpless puppy discarded in a dumpster. Hearing mysterious sounds, R.J. investigated and discovered a moving backpack. Opening it revealed a malnourished puppy, later named Midas. R.J. shared the emotional moment, “I opened it up, and the dog literally slowly lifted its head… I just about started crying there.”

Luckily, R.J. intervened just after trash pickup, preventing a tragic outcome. The vet revealed Midas suffered a fractured jaw and lung infection, signs of prior abuse. R.J., considering adoption, emphasized the incident’s silver lining. This event underscores the cruelty of abandoning animals, prompting the Shakopee Police Department to advocate for responsible surrender, urging pet owners to utilize available resources for humane rehoming. Their message: “Please be kind to our animal friends!”
