Cayden Taipalus, an 8-year-old from Michigan, took action when he saw his friend denied a hot lunch at school due to a lack of funds. Troubled by this, Cayden initiated a fundraising effort named “Pay It Forward: No Kid Goes Hungry.” His mother, Amber Melke-Peters, recalls Cayden’s determination to help, stating,
“He has a heart of gold.” Cayden, a third-grader at Challenger Elementary, not only set up a website but also started recycling to raise funds. With nearly $7,000 raised, he cleared lunch debts for over 300 students, ensuring no child goes without a hot meal. His selflessness extended further as he requested additional funds be added to needy children’s accounts, aiming to prevent future lunch denials. Amber proudly acknowledges her son’s remarkable understanding and compassion, emphasizing his exceptional feat at just 8 years old.
