THE DAUGHTER CREATED A BEAUTIFUL SMALL HOME THAT’S EASY FOR HER ELDERLY MOTHER TO MOVE AROUND IN…

Ferne, a tiny house designer in Victoria, Australia, faced a unique challenge: creating a comfortable home for her aging mother, Merle. While Merle wanted to be near family, she also valued independence. Ferne crafted a special 23.5 x 8 ft home tailored to meet Merle’s needs. The design prioritizes accessibility with wide entrances and ramps, promoting mobility for Merle.

Focusing on functionality, even the kitchen countertops were customized for Merle’s height. Anticipating potential changes with age, the home features reinforced walls with handrails for balance. Ferne’s thoughtful design extends to a beautiful patio that can be dismantled if needed.

Despite the option to move, the picturesque farm view makes it hard to imagine leaving. In Ferne’s words, “She’s built many beautiful homes, but this one was special. It was for Mom.”
