Unsuspecting coat hooks in public restrooms and hotel rooms are concealing a disturbing secret. Recent reports from Florida reveal three incidents where miniature cameras were discovered in women’s restrooms at popular locations. The MCSO report states, “In all three incidents… hidden in coat hooks were found mounted on the walls.” Shockingly, these devices are available for as little as $20 to $50.
Lt. Randy Reynolds warns, “The device is not something that would stand out. They could be in changing rooms anywhere.” These inconspicuous gadgets are not only used for theft prevention but are increasingly misused for illicit purposes, including spying on innocent individuals.
Identifying these cameras is crucial. Standard plastic coat hooks may appear ordinary, but a small opening at the top reveals the lens. Some even have a discreet side button for activating the motion sensor. Stay vigilant, as these seemingly harmless hooks may harbor invasive technology.
