At 15, Fulvia acknowledged her transgender identity but kept it concealed. Even in her 32-year marriage to Marisa, she privately cross-dressed. She revealed her truth 16 years ago, prompting Marisa’s initial struggle to accept the transition. Today, they live more like sisters than spouses.
Facing rejection from her family, Fulvia pursued her ideal appearance in 2004 with surgeries, facing opposition even at her father’s funeral. She stated, “My dad asked my wife to sign a paper to send me into a psychiatric institution to make me change my mind.”
