This kid was born without eyes, so his mother left him. But he still celebrated Christmas with a family: Best gift ever!

In Tomsk, Russia, eight-month-old Alexander K., born with SOX2 anophthalmia syndrome, faced a rare condition: no eyeballs. Despite this, doctors assure he is otherwise “perfectly healthy.” His biological mother, learning of the disorder at 31 weeks, left him after birth. Fortunately, an orphanage found a “warm and loving” family for Alexander in a city with excellent facilities.

Svetlana Syrova, the first to share Alexander’s story, expressed gratitude for those supporting his journey: “He’ll have sisters and a summer cottage.” During adoption proceedings, Dr. Tatyana Rudnikovich confirmed Alexander’s well-being, sharing that he underwent necessary checkups. Recently in St. Petersburg, Alexander received his first prostheses, and doctors plan to form eyeballs, although he will never gain sight.
