Weeks after Michael Strahan’s absence from TV due to undisclosed personal matters, he and his 19-year-old daughter Isabella open up about her recent diagnosis of medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. In an emotional interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, Strahan expressed gratitude for his daughter and her strength, stating, “I know she’s going through it, but I know that we’re never given more than we can handle and that she is going to crush this.”
Isabella, a USC freshman, discovered something was wrong a month after experiencing headaches. The situation escalated when she began vomiting blood on October 25, leading to a crucial diagnosis. Isabella underwent surgery on October 27 to remove the 4-centimeter tumor. Post-surgery, she faced challenges in memory and mobility, supported by her twin sister, Sophia.
Isabella completed proton radiation therapy and will start chemotherapy in February. To share her journey openly, she partnered with Duke Children’s Hospital for a YouTube series, aiming to be a voice for those undergoing similar treatments. Despite the hardships, Isabella’s positive outlook prevails: “I’m feeling good. Not too bad. And I’m very excited for this whole process to wrap. But you just have to keep living every day.”
Through their ordeal, Michael and Isabella emphasize the importance of perspective, grateful for the simple joys in life. As Isabella battles cancer, their family’s resilience shines, and they face the future with hope.
