Doctor and Two Children, 6 and 8, Killed in Texas Plane Crash

A devastating plane crash in Texas has claimed the lives of surgeon Dr. Heath Smith and his two children, aged 6 and 8. The incident involved a twin-engine Cessna 310 that crashed near Poolville around 1:15 p.m. local time on Sunday, January 14. The FAA confirmed the crash with three people on board. The plane, piloted by Dr. Smith, was found in a pasture more than two hours after taking off from Dimmit County Airport at 10:58 a.m. The scheduled noon arrival at Bridgeport Municipal Airport never occurred, leaving no survivors.

Dr. Smith’s significant role in the Paradise Independent School District as a board member and vice president adds to the tragedy. Superintendent Will Brewer expressed deep sorrow, stating, “The tragedy that this family has endured is unimaginable. Dr. Smith’s impact on students and staff will be long-lasting. Please keep the Smith family in your prayers.”
