Target announced that the stores will close

nine stores across New York City, Seattle, San Francisco/Oakland, and Portland. Despite efforts to enhance security and deter theft, the problem persisted. In New York City, Harlem’s store is closing, leaving 96 remaining stores with over 20,000 employees. In Seattle, two stores, University Way and Ballard, are affected, leaving 22 stores and nearly 4,000 employees. San Francisco/Oakland sees closures at SF Folsom and Oakland Broadway, leaving 32 stores and over 6,400 employees. In Portland, Galleria, Powell, and Hollywood stores are closing, leaving 15 stores and more than 2,500 employees.

Target acknowledges the need for additional measures, including locking certain merchandise cases and collaborating with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations division. With over 150 stores remaining operational, Target emphasizes the collective effort needed to address this issue. “While we will continue to make meaningful investments throughout our business, we cannot solve this issue on our own,” the company state
