Science Shows That Women Sleep Better Next To Dogs Than Men

Researchers from Canisius College in New York State conducted a study revealing that women might enjoy better sleep with dogs as bed companions compared to humans or cats. Surveying nearly a thousand women in the United States, the study found that 55% shared their bed with a dog, while 31% shared with a cat. Dr. Christy Hoffman, the lead researcher, highlighted that dogs’ sleep patterns more closely align with humans than those of cats, potentially contributing to improved sleep quality.

The study suggests several reasons why dogs make excellent sleep partners. Firstly, dogs adapt well to their owners’ sleep schedules, unlike human bed partners. Additionally, dogs exhibit greater stillness during sleep, minimizing disruptions. Lastly, dogs offer a sense of security, potentially alerting owners to emergencies.

However, individual preferences and circumstances vary, and more research is needed to draw definitive conclusions. Dr. Hoffman emphasizes the importance of understanding how pets impact sleep quality to provide a clearer picture for households with pets.
