‘What A Beast!’ Huge Snake Found By Hiker Near South Carolina Creek

Hiker Meredith Langley recently encountered a sizable snake resembling a scene from Indiana Jones at Florence’s Jeffries Creek Park. Sharing on Facebook, she marveled at its perfect camouflage in the natural surroundings, advising her kids not to rush ahead on trails. Biologist Greg Lucas identified it as a non-lethal brown water snake, explaining their appearance can be deceiving due to their muscular bodies. Langley, familiar with copperheads in the area, estimated this snake’s length at four feet. She praised the creature’s calm demeanor, interpreting it as confidence in self-defense. Langley, emphasizing respect for wildlife habitats, appreciatively left the snake’s home, illustrating a valuable lesson for her children during their nature hikes.
