One American man spent 25 years digging a house in a cave and boasted of the final result

Grant Johnson, an ordinary American, spent 25 years crafting a unique home inside a cave for his family, capturing attention and curiosity. In 1973, at 17, he settled in Moab, a mining town, dropping out of school for work. Undeterred by challenges, he purchased a 16-hectare empty land, raising eyebrows. Living initially in a trailer, Grant started digging a cave, later establishing his business.

“After many years of working as a miner, he acquired a wife and children and determined that he didn’t want to leave Grant County,” the article states. Through relentless effort, the cave dwelling expanded to 450 square meters, making it a distinctive local attraction, even dubbed “a national park.” Grant’s unconventional and dedicated approach to home construction leaves a lasting impression, showcasing the endless possibilities of creative housing solutions.
