The COVID-19 pandemic hit hard, causing businesses to close and people to lose jobs and homes. Amidst the chaos, delivery workers played a crucial role. While doctors were rightfully praised, a Virginia neighborhood decided to express gratitude to their UPS driver, Anthony Gaskin. Unbeknownst to him, residents organized a surprise, lining the streets with cars and signs proclaiming, “Hallsley loves you, Anthony.” Overwhelmed, Gaskin, who delivered over 180 packages during the pandemic, was brought to tears. One resident, Patty Friedman, highlighted his impact during lonely times: “I wanted to thank him personally for how much he helped me feel welcome when I moved in during a pandemic.” The gesture, involving over 75 cars and numerous residents, recognized Gaskin and other delivery workers for their essential contributions, often overlooked in discussions about pandemic heroes.
