It has been 17 years since Madeleine McCann disappeared from her holiday apartment in Portugal. Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have never stopped searching for her.
On May 3, 2007, three-year-old Madeleine vanished from her bed in Praia da Luz, Portugal, while her parents were dining nearby. Despite a massive search, her whereabouts remain unknown.
Kate McCann recently revealed a shocking detail in her book, “Madeleine: Our Daughter’s Disappearance and the Continuing Search for Her.” She discovered that their restaurant reservation note, which mentioned they left their children alone, was accessible to all staff and possibly guests. “This book was by definition accessible to all staff and, albeit unintentionally, probably to guests and visitors, too,” she wrote.
“We wanted to eat close to our apartments as we were leaving our young children alone there and checking on them intermittently,” Kate explained, expressing deep regret for their decision.
Though it’s unclear if the note played a role, Kate believes it may have attracted unwanted attention. The McCanns continue their search for Madeleine, hoping for a reunion one day.
