Old Man Goes to Visit Daughter for His 80th Birthday, She Doesn’t Let Him Enter Her House

On his eightieth birthday, Richard visited his daughter, Deidre, but she greeted him with tears and quickly dismissed him. Richard noticed something amiss through her front windows.

Deidre, visibly distressed, claimed she was too busy to celebrate, stating, “I wasn’t expecting you, and this isn’t really a good time.” She asked Richard to leave and promised to call later. Richard, heartbroken, watched as Deidre’s house was invaded by two men who threatened her over an $80,000 debt. “People who owe Mr. Marco money don’t have a great life expectancy,” one of them said, drawing a gun.

As the men ransacked her house, Deidre pleaded, “I need more time. Business is sure to pick up again in the winter.” Richard, realizing the severity of the situation, followed them to a pub where he met Mr. Marco.

Mr. Marco revealed, “Deidre took out a business loan of $80,000 and never made any payments.” Richard offered $20,000 but was told it was insufficient. Mr. Marco then coerced Richard into smuggling contraband to cover the debt.

During the smuggling attempt, Richard’s car ended up in a river. After a dangerous escape, he mortgaged his house to get the remaining funds. At the club, Richard and Deidre were confronted by Mr. Marco, who threatened Deidre until the police arrived.

Deidre, apologizing tearfully, admitted, “I didn’t know how to tell you. How does anyone tell their father that they’re a huge failure?” Richard reassured her, saying, “You are not a failure. Everything’s going to be okay.”
