A year ago, a pitbull mix named Riona suffered a horrific fate when she was intentionally set on fire in Nutbush, Tennessee. Witnesses saw her running down the street engulfed in flames, with the smell of gasoline indicating she had been doused in fuel. Thankfully, Riona’s tragic story has a happier ending now.
Riona was taken in by Tails of Hope Dog Rescue, where she received extensive medical care for severe burns, including multiple skin grafts. Despite her trauma, she remained in good spirits, constantly wagging her tail and showing love to everyone around her.
Meanwhile, the person accused of this cruel act, 43-year-old Quishon Brown, was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals. Riona’s ordeal also inspired the passing of a new animal cruelty bill in Tennessee.
After months of recovery, Riona is finally heading to her forever home. Her new family has other dogs, children to play with, and medical experience to care for her special needs. This marks a new chapter in Riona’s life—one filled with love and care.
Her story continues to inspire, proving that even in the darkest moments, hope can shine through.
