The U.S. Department of Justice Reveals First Details: Iran Planned to Assassinate Trump Before the Elections

The U.S. Department of Justice has uncovered a plot to assassinate Donald Trump, filing charges against an Iranian linked to the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

A complaint in Manhattan federal court alleges an IRGC official ordered Farjad Shakeri to draft the plan in September, threatening to delay it until after the U.S. presidential election if not completed within seven days. Shakeri told the FBI he had no intention of meeting the deadline.

The plot highlights Iran’s efforts to target U.S. officials, including Trump, on American soil. Shakeri, described as an IRGC asset, lives in Tehran and was deported from the U.S. in 2008 after a robbery conviction.

Two others were also charged in a separate plot to kill an Iranian-American in New York.
