Reba McEntire makes very surprising confession about her son Shelby

Popular musician and actress Reba McEntire is celebrated for her “down-to-earth personality,” a quality often attributed to her upbringing in rural Oklahoma. Raised on a ranch in Chockie, Oklahoma, she grew up helping with cattle, competing in barrel racing, and learning values that would guide her throughout her life. As Reba shared, “Mama and Daddy always said…‘If you tell somebody you’re going to be somewhere at a certain time, you show up.’ That’s the way I was raised.”

In 1990, Reba welcomed her son, Shelby, while balancing a thriving career. Determined to raise him grounded despite her fame, she upheld values of respect and discipline, saying, “When we would play games or cards, I’d never let Shelby win… I want other people to like you. So don’t be a little jerk. Don’t be a spoiled brat.”

Shelby, now a race car driver, was instilled with humility, with many noting how well-grounded he remained despite his upbringing. Reflecting on motherhood, Reba admits that having Shelby shifted her perspective, turning her focus from herself to nurturing him.

As Shelby recently married Marissa at Walt Disney World, Reba continues to cherish their close bond, grateful for the joy he brings to her life.
