A four-year-old Texas girl, Londlyn Anthony, is on life support after allegedly enduring months of severe abuse from her godmother, Tameria Barnett, 30, according to KHOU.
In September, Londlyn’s father, Kerrick Anthony, temporarily entrusted Barnett with guardianship while he relocated. “Due to me moving and transferring to a different apartment, I gave her temporary custodial guardianship,” Anthony explained. However, Barnett cut off contact, blocking him on social media and ignoring his calls.
The abuse reportedly began over potty training frustrations. Investigators found that Barnett beat Londlyn daily with cords, belts, and her hands. Londlyn is now in critical condition at Texas Children’s Hospital, suffering from a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, and other injuries. She is on life support with screws implanted in her skull to monitor brain activity.
Barnett, a friend of Londlyn’s incarcerated mother, was arrested on November 29 but released on a $100,000 bond. She must wear an electronic monitor and is prohibited from contacting Londlyn or other minors.
Barnett’s next court appearance is scheduled for February 2025.
