Heartbreaking Thanksgiving Tragedy: Toddler’s Life Tragically Lost in New Orleans Shooting

A Cypress family is mourning the loss of their youngest child, 3-year-old Rudy Ratliff, after a tragic incident during a trip to visit relatives in New Orleans. Police believe Rudy’s death was caused by an accidental shooting.

Rudy’s mother, Leshawn Ratliff, shared her devastation: “My life changed like that, my whole life changed like that.” She now clings to cherished memories and photos of her son.

The shooting happened on November 29, shocking the family and the community. Police are still investigating, though they suspect no foul play, calling it an unfortunate accident.

Family members described Rudy as a joyful, vibrant child who brightened every room he entered. “He was so full of life,” a relative said. His loss has left an irreplaceable void in their lives.

Leshawn hopes this tragedy will serve as a reminder to parents about gun safety: “I don’t want another parent to feel this pain. Secure your firearms.” The family asks for privacy as they navigate their grief and continue to seek answers about what happened.
