The Truth Behind the Door

I have a 14-year-old daughter who is dating a boy her age. He’s a polite and respectful young man, a great kid overall. Every Sunday, he visits our home, and they spend the entire day in her room.

I don’t like to intrude, but one Sunday, a thought crossed my mind: This is the 21st century. Kids are growing up so fast these days. What if they’re doing more than just hanging out?

Worried, I rushed to her room, flung the door open, and saw the dim glow of a lamp. I expected to catch them red-handed, but instead, I found my daughter calmly knitting a scarf while the boy lay on the couch, reading aloud.

All I could manage to say was, “Would you like some tea?”
