Mel Gibson shares sad truth after fire destroys his home

Mel Gibson, 69, has lost his $14.5 million Malibu home to the devastating Palisades fire. While the actor was in Austin recording The Joe Rogan Experience, his longtime girlfriend Rosalind Ross and their son Lars safely evacuated before the blaze destroyed their home.

Gibson criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for the state’s wildfire response, jokingly remarking that tax dollars went toward Newsom’s “hair gel.” The mansion, purchased in 2008, had been on the market for years.

Despite losing irreplaceable personal items, Gibson expressed gratitude that his family was unharmed, stating, “These are only things. My loved ones are safe, and that’s what matters.”

The fire also impacted other celebrities, including Ed Harris, Paris Hilton, and Billy Crystal, highlighting California’s ongoing wildfire crisis.
