A Pharmacist Identifies Two Silent Killer Warning Signs That You May See In Your Feet

A pharmacist has identified two silent killer warning signs that could show up in your feet. While often overlooked, changes in our feet and toes can reveal significant health issues and signal the need to see a doctor.

Excilor advisor and pharmacist Noel Wicks explained that paying attention to foot health is crucial since the tiny blood vessels supplying blood to the feet are prone to blockage, leading to coldness or numbness. She also highlighted that thick, brittle toenails might indicate heart disease.

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD), caused by narrowed or blocked blood vessels, is another concern. According to the NHS, PAD often presents no symptoms but can cause leg pain during walking, known as intermittent claudication, which eases with rest. Symptoms like burning, tingling, unhealing wounds, or dry, cracked skin also warrant attention.

Additionally, fungal infections, athlete’s foot, or yellowing toenails might signal underlying health issues, such as diabetes or heart problems.

These subtle changes are reminders to monitor your body closely. Seek medical advice if you notice unusual symptoms in your feet or elsewhere to protect your overall health.
