The child’s mother, who recorded the incident, claimed she did so because she feared no one would believe her. Although Florida law doesn’t explicitly ban corporal punishment, the school district’s handbook prohibits it. The mother described the paddling as brutal and potentially harmful, both physically and psychologically. The family’s attorney has called the punishment “aggravated battery,” and the mother has taken her daughter to a doctor for documentation. The incident has sparked outrage, with calls for justice and an appropriate response from the school district.
