A terrifying incident occurred in the Astun ski resort in Spain’s Pyrenees mountains, near the French border. A cable car detached, injuring 30 people, nine of whom are in critical condition.
State broadcaster TVE reported that 80 passengers remain stranded in the cable car. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his concern, saying he was “shocked by the news of the incident.”
The Spanish Red Cross has deployed an advanced life-support ambulance and 11 specialized vehicles to assist emergency services on site.
