Several U.S. schools have closed or shifted to remote learning due to a rare winter storm. The National Weather Service warns of “dangerously cold temperatures, heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain” from January 22 to January 24 across the South and East.
In North Carolina, “Gaston County Schools, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Union County Public Schools,” and others announced closures, while some, like Sugar Creek Charter School, moved to remote learning. South Carolina’s Clover School District and Lancaster County Schools also closed. These measures aim to “prioritize safety” during hazardous conditions, as disruptions continue across affected regions.
