Within hours of taking office, Donald Trump made a major mistake

On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was sworn in as president for the second time. Hours later, he signed several executive orders, including withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris Agreement and the WHO. Addressing a crowd in Washington, he vowed to reverse “80 destructive and radical executive actions of the previous administration.”

Trump declared national emergencies on energy and immigration, promising to boost oil reserves, distribute U.S. energy globally, and deploy troops to the U.S.-Mexico border. He claimed, “We will be a rich nation again… that liquid gold under our feet will help to do it.”

His foreign affairs remarks drew criticism. Trump inaccurately labeled Spain as a BRICS nation, proposing tariffs that would disrupt free trade. Spanish Minister Pilar Alegría responded, “Spain is not in BRICS.”

These actions and missteps marked a controversial start to Trump’s second term.
