Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, marking his second term after first serving from 2017 to 2021. He is the second president in history, after Grover Cleveland, to serve non-consecutive terms. Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles proposed amending the 22nd Amendment to allow Trump to serve until 2032, stating, “He has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay.”
The proposed amendment would enable presidents to serve three terms. Ogles argued Trump needs more time to fulfill his goals, including pardoning 1,500 individuals linked to the Capitol riots and addressing national security concerns over TikTok. Trump has also enacted significant changes, declaring only two genders—male and female—and reversing the TikTok ban temporarily. His administration aims to address security concerns while preserving the platform used by millions of Americans.
