67 Feared Dead in Mid-Air Collision Near Washington D.C.

A passenger plane and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter collided near Washington D.C. around 9 p.m. on January 29. The American Airlines flight was carrying 64 passengers and crew, while three soldiers were aboard the helicopter.

Authorities have so far recovered 19 bodies from the Potomac River. “It was a tragic scene—unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed,” an eyewitness said.

Officials are working to determine the cause of the devastating crash.
