Furious Americans have accused Donald Trump of showing “no empathy” after he made a light-hearted remark about the American Airlines crash. When asked if he planned to visit the site, Trump interrupted: “I have no plans to visit the site because—you tell me, what’s the site? The water? You want me to go swimming?”
The crash occurred on January 29 when an American Airlines jet carrying 60 passengers and four crew collided with a Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River, reportedly killing all on board. Witnesses described the plane “splitting in half” upon impact. DC Fire and EMS Chief John Donnelly later admitted, “We don’t believe there are any survivors.”
Trump had earlier questioned air traffic control’s role, writing, “Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane? This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!”
His comments went viral, with critics calling him “heartless.” One wrote, “I can’t even imagine how the families are feeling hearing this.” Another added, “We are only two weeks in, and I’m truly exhausted.”
Meanwhile, Trump sparked a new controversy by praising Elon Musk, fueling conspiracy theories that Musk “rigged” the election in Trump’s favor.
