FedEx Plane Catches Fire After Bird Strike, Makes Emergency Landing
A FedEx Boeing 767-300 burst into flames midair after a bird struck its right engine shortly after takeoff from Newark Liberty International Airport. “A loud boom” was heard as fire and smoke poured from the engine, forcing the plane to return for an emergency landing.
Air traffic was briefly halted but later resumed, according to an airport spokesperson. The plane, en route to Indianapolis, landed safely with no injuries reported. Onlookers near the airport captured the dramatic moment as flames engulfed the engine.
