My Husband Refuses to Let My Mom Live With Us Unless She Pays Us Rent

Torn Between My Husband and My Grieving Mother

After my father passed, my mother felt lonely, so I suggested she move in with us to be with her grandkids. My husband refused at first but later agreed—only if she paid rent. Furious, I argued that we own the house and pay no rent ourselves.

He smirked, saying, “Your mother is a leech… this house is not a hotel!” He also admitted, “Your mother hated me ever since I met her.”

Now, I’m torn between supporting my grieving mother and respecting my husband’s feelings. I don’t know what to do.
