Canada Imposes 25% Tariffs on U.S. Goods
Canada will impose 25% tariffs on $155 billion CAD worth of U.S. goods in response to American tariffs, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Tuesday.
No Justification for U.S. Tariffs
“There is absolutely no justification or need whatsoever” for the U.S. tariffs, which took effect today, Trudeau said.
Trade War and Retaliation
“Canadians are reasonable… but we will not back down from a fight.” $30 billion CAD in tariffs take effect immediately, with the rest in 21 days.
Fentanyl Claims Rejected
Trump’s claim that Canada isn’t fighting fentanyl is “totally false.”
