Businessman Carl Dean, husband of country legend Dolly Parton, has passed away at 82 in Nashville. The couple was married for nearly 60 years.
Parton released a heartfelt statement: “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.” The family has asked for privacy.
Dean, who preferred to stay out of the spotlight, supported Parton throughout her career while running a road-paving business. They renewed their vows in 2016, marking their long-lasting love.
Parton once shared how their differences strengthened their bond: “He’s quiet and I’m loud… we have a lot of fun.” Despite staying behind the scenes, Dean always encouraged her career.
He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with close family. Dean is survived by his siblings, Sandra and Donnie.
