Newly sworn-in Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the Trump administration is suing New York State, Governor Kathy Hochul, and Attorney General Letitia James for allegedly shielding illegal immigrants. Bondi declared, “New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops. It stops today.”
The lawsuit targets New York’s “Green Light” laws, which allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.
Bondi argued the laws give immigrants a “green light” to stay without facing full federal scrutiny.
The lawsuit also names DMV commissioner Mark Schroeder, claiming the laws block officers from accessing driver’s license databases during routine stops.
Bondi emphasized the federal government’s stance against state policies that undermine immigration laws.
