Ontario Premier Doug Ford has doubled down on his warning to “cut off” U.S. energy but apologized “to the American people.”
Trump imposed tariffs—25% on Canadian and Mexican goods, 20% on China—to “hold [them] accountable” for drug-related issues. In response, Trudeau announced counter-tariffs of “25 percent against CA $155 billion of American goods.”
Ford warned, “If they want to try to annihilate Ontario… I will cut off their energy with a smile on my face.”
However, he later softened his stance, telling CNN, “It’s not you; it’s your president that’s causing this problem.”
