Just weeks into President Donald Trump’s second term, Rep. Al Green has launched an impeachment campaign against him. Green declared, “The movement to impeach the president has begun,” citing “dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done.”

The push follows Trump’s controversial plan for the U.S. to take ownership of the Gaza Strip, resettle nearly 2 million Palestinians, and develop the land for American use. Critics call it ethnic cleansing, with Green stating, “Ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke.”

Green previously led three impeachment efforts during Trump’s first term, though they were dismissed by Democratic leaders. However, his persistence helped set the stage for Trump’s historic two impeachments — the first for pressuring Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden, and the second for inciting the January 6 Capitol riot.

Now, Green’s campaign faces tough odds in the Republican-controlled House, with some Democrats wary of political fallout. However, others see it as essential to holding Trump accountable.

While the impeachment’s success is uncertain, it has reignited debates on presidential power and could prompt broader investigations into Trump’s policies.
